2018 Dog Friendly Establishments in Kansas City

It’s finally May and the sun is shining, the patio drinks are flowing, and its time to soak up all the sun! One of the best parts of nice weather in the Midwest is being able to take your dog with you on your adventures out and about town.

Many places in Kansas City are dog friendly like open air farmer’s markets, plenty of dog parks, lakes, and trails – but sometimes you want to go get something to eat with your best furry friend! That’s why I’ve compiled a list of these Dog Friendly Establishments in Kansas City. With a little bit of personal research in addition to some survey’s — I found the best places to take your furry friend in Kansas City this summer to soak up the sun and enjoy a cold drink (and even a few retail shops allow your fur-babe inside as well!).

If you don’t see your establishment on this list and you’re dog friendly – don’t worry! I will be adding to this list periodically. Also, I plan to do one big roll out annually – so another big post of Dog Friendly spots will be available for 2019! Just shoot me an e-mail at hello@foodgalal.com and ask for the Dog Friendly Establishment Survey. The more establishments on the list the better. Thank you to all the restaurants, coffee shops, and shop owners who participated in this year’s survey!

The survey I sent out asked the following questions:

  1. Are Dogs Welcome Inside Your Establishment? (As a note: no dogs are allowed inside an establishment that serves food unless it is a service animal).
  2. Do you have a patio? If so, are dogs welcome on the patio?
  3. Does your establishment offer dog-friendly options? (i.e. water, treats, menu items, etc.)
  4. Does your establishment offer dog-friendly options? (i.e. water, treats, menu items, etc.)
  5. Anything else you would like to say about your establishment?

Based off of these questions and some personal research on the surrounding restaurants in the greater KC area – I have compiled this list of Dog Friendly Establishments in KC!

There’s quite a few places we’ve taken our dogs to in the past couple years in the downtown area that are missing. Hopefully they’ll chime in and announce themselves.
    1. Emperial Brewery (Crossroads)
    2. Blue Line (City Market)
    3. Opera House (City Market, when their sidewalk tables are out)
    4. Anton’s (out front and in the back)
    5. Bluebird Bistro (Westside)
    6. Flying Saucer (P&L)
    7. Bristol’s Seafood (P&L)

Great list, and hope to see it grow!

  2. This is amazing and super helpful, I’m always calling places to ask if I can bring the doggo. Love the Crossroads representing all the dog love! And while they may not have responded, from experience, Cellar Rat (inside), Border Brewing (inside and patio), Torn Label (patio) and Casual Animal (patio) also welcome puppers! Oh, and the new Strange Days Brewery in River Market allows them on the patio, too. (Clearly we like beer lol.)
