Homemade Taco Seasoning

I’ll keep this short and sweet because let’s be honest, you’re just here for this gal durn recipe for some gal durn tacos, or enchiladas, or salsa, or Black Bean Quinoa Bowls or you know, anything that could use a little extra spice (eggs, hummus, meat, cottage cheese, etc etc etc).

This recipe uses basic spices that you already have in your cupboard – which saves you a trip to the store and from all the extra preservatives lurking in taco seasoning packets. Byeeeeee MSG. You can’t sit with us.

Here’s how this is gonna go down. Grab your measuring spoons and any type of storage container that can be sealed and kept in a cupboard. I prefer mason jars with plastic lids because that’s what Pioneer Woman uses and she’s my idol.

  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp oregano

Sand art!! Aka spice art!

  • Mix the following ingredients into your container, shake, and store. That’s all!
  • For reference, I use about 2 tablespoons of spice per “thing” I make – whether that be Tacos, salsa, enchiladas etc.

Food Gal Alleyoop …. boop!
